Immortāles - Through the Eyes of Time.
The motif of timelessness - something that allows the past, the present, the future to merge – is what connects the two cycles by painter Patrik Hábl, now presented jointly in the publication Immortāles - Through the Eyes of Time. The cycle "Faces of the Dead and Disappearing", along with the series of paintings reinterpreting the iconic works of the Old Masters, bear within themselves a deep personal experience and, for their author, form a theme that he continually rediscovers and re-investigates - in the case of his Old Master reinterpretations, for over thirty years.
The current publication combines the artist's personal view with critical reflections from professional art historians. These texts by Patrik Hábl, Lucie Němečková and Jana Peroutková reveal this oeuvre in its full visual, historical, and symbolic context.
